Craig's Kindy Photos

The latest set of photos from Craig's kindergarten have arrived. There's only about 80 photos this time and many are very similar to each other but still worth a look. He's been having more fun at kindy than in the past and seems to really like his new English teacher Madeline.

Back to Life in Taipei

After arriving back in Taipei, the weather was nothing like warm, sunny Yeppoon. Graham needed his beanie when going outdoors.

He even had to wear a beanie at home sometimes.

Last weekend, there was a dinner on Saturday night to celebrate the 80th birthday of one of Craig and Graham's great aunts. There were plenty of kids in attendance and some of them got on stage to dance.

Craig really had a good time while he was dancing. Everything else in the photo was clear and in-focus except for the little boy who was bouncing up and down madly.

The next day, there was a Sunday lunch with Craig and Graham's Taiwanese Grandmother and some of her friends. Uncle Dean and Aunty Suprana are visiting from sunny England.

So, Aunty Suprana can play with almost all of her nieces and nephews.

The Journey Home

The last night in Yeppoon was a little bit downbeat. It had been a lovely break away from cold, wet Taipei and everyone would have preferred to stay a bit longer but there was a plane to catch in the early evening the next day.

Bailey spent some time getting to know Graham. The little bloke seemed to like Bailey.

The last day in Yeppoon was super-hot and very humid. For those who were taking a break from winter the best place to take an afternoon nap was the upstairs verandah.

Craig hung out with Dad not far away enjoying the sea breeze and view.

Craig's Dad didn't take another photo until Hong Kong airport. They had a lot of trouble on the way home. The Virgin Blue flight from Rockhampton to Brisbane was very late and they only just made it on to the Cathay Pacific flight to Hongkers. The Cathay staff at Brisbane Airport were very helpful and without their help the little family would have missed the flight. Craig's Dad was very grateful.

Meanwhile, Craig's Mum was super-tired because she had held Graham in her arms for almost all of the overnight flight. Just one of the joys of being a parent. Craig was tired too but he liked being pushed around on a baggage trolley.

Craig felt better after finishing a drink he had been given on the plane. He seemed to quite like Cathay's children's meals.

Craig had another trolley ride when he arrived back at Taoyuan Airport.

As soon as they arrived home it was time to go out for lunch. They wanted to sit outdoors because the sun was shining. But, Craig started to get a bit cold because the sun went behind some clouds almost as soon as they sat down. Craig borrowed his Dad's vest to stay warm. Craig's Mum reckons Craig looks like a Jedi warrior. She kept making light sabre noises while eating lunch. ;)

Cooberrie Park

Craig has been to Cooberrie Park a couple of times now. The first time was when he wasn't able to walk yet. Plenty of bags of animal food were bought when they entered and Craig's Mum tried to encourage Craig to be brave and feed the animals himself.

Arrival had been timed so they could start with the daily introduction by the owners to some of the little zoo's animals. Aunty Annette was first to have a go at holding a snake.

The next few photos were taken with Aunty Annette's mobile phone. Craig wasn't able to hold the snake because it weighed almost as much as he did. Plus, he was definitely not interested in touching it.

Then again, Craig's Dad isn't much of a snake fan and he kept control of where its head was pointed at all times, which annoyed the snake a little bit.

Craig's Cousin Bailey was by far the most relaxed snake holder among the group. He actually had a good time posing for photos.

His bravery was rewarded with a chance to hold a cockatoo.

And he stood next to a sleepy koala.

Then, Aunty Annette (aka Ms. Moneybags) paid AUD$15 so that Bailey could actually hold a koala.

He did a great job. The koala looked very comfortable and had a look around while Bailey held it very safely.

Bailey was just about the only person willing to go anywhere near the emus. They don't look friendly.

Meanwhile, Craig's Mum was working hard at convincing Craig that feeding a little wallaby would not hurt. It was one of those animals that likes to keep your hand still so that it can eat faster. So, Craig's Mum had to pretend that she wasn't being scratched.

Eventually Craig gave it a try.

On the way out Bailey and Aunty Annette found where the baby animals are kept.

Some were very cute.

And Bailey had more fun posing for photos with animals.

It had been very hot while they walked around and Craig needed a cold drink before starting the drive back to Grandad and Grandma's place.

On the way back, they stopped at a Coffee Club just because they hadn't been to one before. This one was located right across from the main beach in Yeppoon. Great location and Craig's Mum deserved some cheesecake as a reward for all her hard work at Cooberrie Park.

Bailey and Craig

Bailey's arrival meant toys began flying and Graham needed protection!

Meanwhile, Craig and Bailey had some really funny tickle fights.

Craig has become something of a lolly monster. Anyone who has a plastic bag in their hands that looks like it might contain lollies will be accosted. Bailey was just the latest to be held up by the midget-sized monster.

Bailey put up a good fight but there was only one way to get some peace and quiet.

Give Craig what he wanted.

Craig really likes Bailey, even when he doesn't have any lollies left.

Later that day, after the sun had set, there were more tickle fights under a handy bedsheet.

Bailey is a very generous boy. He allowed Craig to play with his toys and wear his baseball cap.

Meanwhile, Bailey took lots of funny photos with his Nintendo.

Craig was allowed to play with the Nintendo as well.

All the excitement seemed to get to Craig a bit. Just before bedtime, for no discernable reason he covered his face with some of the stickers that he was meant to play with on the plane. Even his monkey got one!

Not long later, the tired little boy was asleep in bed.

Rainy Days

The first few days in Yeppoon were not unpleasant. It felt really good to be away from Taipei's cold wet winter but it was also raining from time to time in Central Queensland. Graham spent a lot of time indoors.

When the rain stopped Craig and Graham's parents took the opportunity to walk to Cooee Bay Park. A notable feature of the first few days was that every time Craig and Graham's Dad went outside it would start to rain. This visit to the park was no exception. Soon the slide was too wet for Craig to play on.

Fortunately, Craig had time to play some other stuff before they ran back to Grandad and Grandma's house.

The weather soon fined up. The best place to enjoy the afternoon seabreeze is the top verandah.

Graham was quite happy to sit there with his Dad and enjoy the cool breeze.

Downstairs, Craig's Mum was playing a ball game with Craig. The day before, Craig's Dad had tried to teach Craig to catch but Craig much preferred it when the ball was thrown far away so that he could chase it.

Craig liked to throw the ball back left-handed.

Sometimes he threw it pretty well.

After playing with Mum, Craig wanted to rest when Dad tried to join the game.

At night, Craig liked to sit on top of one of the big sofas. It was a funny place to sit and he fell down all the way to floor once. Luckily no harm was done.

The sea air seemed to make Graham sleep a little more than he does at home.

Almost every day they were there, Craig's Dad made sandwiches for lunch. On just one day, they had lunch at a little cafe called Yogolicious. It has gluten-free food. We didn't have any of that but Craig's Mum liked her chicken and avocado sandwich, Craig's Dad made short work of a chicken burger and Craig demolished a banana pancake. As for Craig's Dad's mango smoothie, Craig helped a lot with it. Highly recommended.

To break up the long afternoons, there was a drive to the Singing Ship. Emu Park is a much nicer place now than it was in the past.

The Singing Ship looks quite small from a distance but it seems much bigger when you try to put people and the ship in one photo.

Back at Craig's Grandparents' house it was raining gently again.

Craig was a bit jealous about the picture above and wanted a photo that was all about him!

One morning, magpies were sitting on the next door neighbors' roof. There were three magpies at first but by the time Craig's Dad took a picture one had flown away. The good news was, Craig's Cousin Bailey was about to arrive.
