Craig's Radical Haircut & Graham's Progress

First an update from the last post. The extremely cheap family photo has now been placed on an extended outdoor noticeboard next to the gate of Craig's kindergarten.

Poor Craig had a minor accident recently. His cruel father cut off all of his hair!!! In fact, it was an accident. Craig's Dad forgot to clip on the 1/2-inch thick plastic comb before making his first swipe at the back of Craig's head. The mistake was discovered immediately but it was too late. The rest had to be cut short enough to match.

Craig didn't seem to mind. The weather has been pretty hot recently.

Craig has a little scab on his forehead where he must have bumped his head at kindy. There was a good-sized bump on it but he was unable to tell his parents what had happened.

Meanwhile, Graham has begun to make some progress towards being an athlete of the future.

He seems to enjoy picking his head up and having a look around when placed on his belly. It makes a nice change from just lying on his back staring at the ceiling. Graham's Dad will have to make an effort to capture Graham trying to talk on video. It really is very cute. ;)

Graham is keeping pace with Craig. At the same age, Craig was doing the very same thing.

Cheap Family Photo

Last week, a note arrived from Craig's kindy that he needed to take a 4x6 photo of his family to class for an art project. Despite having a few days notice, Craig's ever-so-cheap parents could do no better than to lie on the bed next to Graham a take a picture with Dad's mobile phone. It even got printed out on an ordinary inkjet printer on plain white paper. The good news was that Craig didn't seem to mind.

Saturday last weekend was designated for shopping. A long walk was made all the way to Carrefour which is much further away than two other supermarkets. Why? Because it has begun stocking Aussie beer! Craig didn't care about that either. He just wanted lunch. He was very careful about keeping a close eye on his yoghurt as well. He really likes yoghurt.

Craig's Mum is very good at making sure Craig eats plenty of veggies. If she didn't he would just eat rice and meat.

Tuesday was Craig and Graham's Mum's birthday. After Dad came home from work the whole family went to a local chainstore cafe for cake.

Craig and Graham's Very Cheap Dad bought a piece of chocolate cake for himself and Mum had a little pudding.

The good news was that Mum was happy.

Back at home that night, Graham's Dad tried to put a dummy in Graham's mouth. He's rejected it several times before but this time the boy was quite sleepy and sucked hard enough to keep it in place for several minutes. It didn't last long but it was much longer than in the past when he would just spit it out straight away.

Saturday Visitors

A very special brunch was had at LA Cafe on Saturday morning. It was special because it was paid for out of Craig and Graham's Mum's first salary for ........ a long time. Craig doesn't look very happy in this photo but that was soon fixed by a really good brunch.

As soon as he'd finished eating Craig didn't feel the need to sit down any more; running around the restaurant was much more fun.

Although it was the middle of a hot summer's day, they went up to the small nearby department store rooftop playground/jungle gym.

Craig likes the little water fountain thingy there but it wasn't turned on this time.

Craig ran around like a mad thing despite the heat while Dad held Graham in the shade ... such as it was.

Mum's good friend Yating had come up from Hsinchu. Her youngest daughter was also having fun on the jungle gym. You can see pictures of Yating when she was pregnant with this baby here when Craig and his parents went to Hsinchu. That was before Graham's time.

They stayed until dinner time. (In fact they were there at brunch but didn't get in any photos.)

Dinner was cheap Thai food but Craig didn't wait for the real food. He was so hungry that he'd eaten half of his rice before anything else was placed on the table. He doesn't complain when he's hungry but once the food arrives everyone knows.
