Mum's Company Trip to E-Da World

Craig and Graham's Mum's former boss insisted that Mum go along on an end-of-year company trip. The offer included taking the whole family along to a place called E-Da World.

E-Da World is slightly difficult to describe because it is so many things rolled into one: university, amusement park, shopping mall, hotels and upscale residential district. It's big and there's not a lot of info about the place in English.

The trip began with an early morning ride on the MRT and then the High Speed Rail. Before getting on the HSR a new hankerchief with a map of Taipei MRT on it had been purchased.

Craig knows heaps of Taipei MRT station names.

The HSR is very fast but it takes about 90 minutes to get from Taipei all the way south to Zuoying.

Graham had plenty of time to get bored.

Both boys were super happy to arrive at the hotel at E-Da.

The little group had to leave thier luggage in the lobby and turn straight around to head back into Kaohsiung.

Graham tried to take a nap on the bus back into town.

The boys were very interested in the water while waiting to get on the ferry to Cijin. If you'd like to know more about Cijin, click here for a blog post with lots of photos.

It's a very short ferry ride.

Just long enough to take two or three photos.

The group had split up as soon as they arrived on Cijin leaving the boys and their parents to rent two bicycles and go for a ride.

Cijin has a very colourful residential neighborhood. This

Even though Mum and Dad were doing all the pedaling, it was the boys who ate most of the snacks that had been brought along!

The bikes were very cheap to rent but were very wobbly.

It was late afternoon and the sun was setting so Dad tried to take a photo of all the ships waiting offshore for their turn to go into Kaohsiung Harbor. It didn't work.

Then it was time to get back on the ferry for the return trip. Craig wanted to stand outside on the upper deck.

There were only three children in the group, this little bloke in the grey shirt

Graham was happier inside.

Then it was time to take the MRT to a night market.

Due to a camera malfunction there are no photos of the night market. There is a photo of the boys having fun in the bath. Craig is wearing goggles because he was supposed to practice putting his face in the water like he does at his swimming lessons.

The boys were supposed to go to bed early because the next day was going to be a big trip to an amusement park.
